Dance as Medicine
Workshops for Transformation, Connection & Embodied Expression
Dance as Medicine is a workshop format I created to explore the healing power of movement. It’s a space where your body becomes your guide—where dance helps you reconnect with your emotional truth, restore inner balance, and remember your own strength.
As a choreographer, performer, and dance facilitator, my work is rooted in the belief that movement can be a tool for transformation. I’m Anna Ideenkind Möhrle, and I developed Dance as Medicine out of both personal experience and professional exploration. Dance was my lifeline through depression, anxiety, and burnout—it became the language I used when words weren’t enough. Since 2023, I’ve brought this approach into diverse settings.
In 2023, I received a cultural education grant from the Kulturreferat München to deepen my research into dance and emotions. This journey—combined with my training in the Amenti Movemeant Elemental Intensive course and more than two decades of experience in movement, theatre, and improvisation—led to the development of these workshops as holistic, body-based spaces for emotional connection and transformation.

About me
Anna Ideenkind
I’m Anna Ideenkind Möhrle – a choreographer, performer, and workshop facilitator dedicated to dance as a tool for transformation and reconnection. I began giving dance and theatre workshops as a teenager and returned to this path in 2022, collaborating with institutions such as the Bayerische Staatsoper, HochX Theater and Live Art, Koop3, and various schools. My own journey with dance and theatre began as a deeply personal coping mechanism—an outlet to process experiences I couldn’t articulate in any other way. These art disciplines helped me when I was struggling with depression, burn out, anxiety and panic attacks.
In 2023, I received a work scholarship from the Kulturreferat München in the field of cultural education, which allowed me to dive deeper into the connection between movement and mental health. Through intensive research with both children and adults, and by participating in trainings like the Amenti Movemeant Elemental Intensive course, I developed a unique workshop format I now call Dance as Medicine.

Since autumn 2023, I have been offering my independent Dance as Medicine workshops next to my workshops for schools and theatres. Since 2024, I also work regularly with groups like Together We Rise, focusing on mental health and collective healing.
Dance as Medicine workshops are about creating an accepting, loving and caring space where you can reconnect with your body’s inherent wisdom in community, rediscover trust in yourself, and explore your own way of transformation through movement. As a facilitator, I guide with empathy and presence through practices designed to awaken your own inner resources—combining emotional sensitivity, creative depth, and intuitive exploration—because your body already knows the way; sometimes, we just need to remember how to listen. These workshops are spaces where body, heart, and mind can come into alignment—where your own inner power can reawaken, and healing becomes a collective, connected journey.
My Method – Dance as Medicine
The Dance as Medicine method is a holistic practice that combines guided dance improvisation, somatic mindfulness, embodiment work, and breathing techniques to support emotional expression, self-awareness and transformation.
At its core, the method invites you to explore your own body language as a way of understanding and expressing your emotions. Through guided improvisation and mindful movement, we use the body to influence the mind—shifting mental states by shifting physical states. Also emotions are allowed to move through you and take embodied form as your own unique dance.
Incorporating elements from acting, we reenact and dance personal stories and emotional states to release old energy blockages and process what our body held within. Through envisioning exercises and guided awareness, you engage not only with movement but also with imagination, memory, and presence.
This work is about finding a deep connection to your authentic self—by integrating body, mind, and soul; by aligning what you feel, think, and express. It also invites connection to others: healing in community through shared space, mutual trust, and group movement.
The method is rooted in mindfulness, somatic awareness, and the belief that your body holds innate wisdom. Dance becomes not just expression, but a medicine—a practice to become your authentic self.
Who the Workshops Are For
Dance as Medicine is for anyone who wants to express themselves, to explore their inner world, and reconnect with their body’s natural wisdom. It’s for those who are curious about their own stories and emotions, seeking personal growth, transformation, and healing—wanting to deepen your self-awareness.
You don’t need to be a professional dancer, and you don’t need to be “ill” for this practice to support you. This is NOT dance therapy, but a space where movement becomes a tool for self-expression, emotional release, and inner clarity. The only requirement is openness.
These workshops are for all ages—children, teenagers, adults, and older people—and can be tailored to the needs of different groups. For younger participants, the focus is more on creative expression and mindfulness. For adults, it may lean more toward emotional exploration, self-awareness, personal growth and embodiment. I also offer adapted versions of the workshop for people with special needs—just reach out to discuss what you or your group may need.
Movement is a universal language. If you’re ready to listen to your body and let it speak, this space is for you.
